Dylan and Bruce Guthro
Double CD Release Party for Father and Son at Harmony House Theatre
Hunter River – This December, both Bruce Guthro and his son, Dylan Guthro are releasing records. They will perform two shows in Hunter River at Harmony House Theatre on December 16th and 17th. Both shows begin at 8 p.m.
Bruce's record "Celtic Crossing" has already been released in Denmark and currently sits at #8 on the Danish sales charts. Celtic Crossing was recorded in Ireland with world renowned producer Donal Lunny who has produced records for Paul Brady, Elvis Costello, Rod Stewart, Indigo Girls and Sinéad O'Connor to name a few. The record has a true Celtic feel with the material being split between traditional and original songs from the award-winning songwriter.
Dylan Guthro is swiftly becoming a musician and songwriter to be reckoned with here on the east coast. He is currently in studio with co-producers Dave Gunning and his dad. Dylan's new record "All That's True" will be his first to date, with 11 original songs.
To see this father/son team together on stage is nothing short of special, as the crowds that stood on their feet at this year's Stan Rogers Folk Festival would attest to. "I'm very excited to showcase my new Celtic record in our local venues .... and it always makes me very proud to step on stage with Dylan. To watch him grow into such a great musician and solid young man has been one of the true joys in my life." Bruce Guthro
Tickets for the show can be purchased by calling the venue at 964-2255, on-line through the website at www.harmonyhousetheatre.com or at the door, subject to availability.

Gordie MacKeeman

Meaghan Blanchard
Award-winning Island Artists to Perform Last Christmas Show for the Year at Harmony House Theatre
Hunter River - Gordie MacKeeman and His Rhythm Boys along with Meaghan Blanchard will perform a holiday show at Harmony House Theatre on Sunday, December 18th. This will be the last Christmas show for the year at the venue. The performers plan to mix some festive songs with some of their well-known original material.
Gordie MacKeeman and His Rhythm Boys are a four-piece group of seasoned musicians hailing from the rich and dynamic PEI music scene. They have collectively toured North America and the UK with ECMA winners, The Grass Mountain Hobos.
Within months of forming the Rhythm Boys and releasing their self-titled debut CD, the band has received two Music PEI awards in 2011 for Roots/Traditional Group of the Year and Instrumental Recording of the Year. The group was also honored with the 2011 Showcase PEI's Artist of the Year Award.
Gordie and the boys are now planning on taking their show on the road. A tour of New England is in the works as well as their first tour of the United Kingdom.
A talented dancer, Gordie has been dancing since his childhood. Dubbed "Crazy Legs", his unique style of clogging captivates audiences of all ages. The energetic fiddling and dancing of MacKeeman leads the Rhythm Boys through one rousing and reflecting song after another. It's the sort of the genuine East coast fiddle music that makes it memorable for those who haven't experienced it yet, and reassuring for those who never forgot it.
Hunter River’s own, Meaghan Blanchard is a 22 year old singer/songwriter with two albums to her credit and various awards. Her second album, "Chasin’ Lonely Again" was the winner of an ECMA 2011 Award for “Country Album of the Year”.
She recently took part in a royal performance for Will and Kate as part of their royal visit to PEI. She also played the Cavendish Country Music Festival as an opening act for Brad Paisley.
Her first album "Changing Things" was released in September 2008. With that album Meaghan picked up four Music PEI 2009 awards and received two ECMA 2009 nominations. Her latest album “Chasin’ Lonely Again” was nominated for 5 Music PEI Awards.
She has appeared on the 2009, 2010 and 2011 ECMA Awards shows as a performer as well as the 2009 nationally televised Canada Games Opening Ceremonies.
Meaghan has showcased at the ECMAs in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. She was also one of five artists to be selected to perform with the Nova Scotia Symphony on the Confederation Centre Main Stage in a gala concert as part of ECMA 2011.
In February 2010, Meaghan spent almost the entire month in Vancouver during the Olympic Games where she performed 47 times in 15 days. She was part of "Come On In - Songs and Stories from Atlantic Canada" which was performed three times daily at Atlantic Canada House to SRO audiences every show. She was also selected to perform as part of the "New Voices -New Writers" showcase presented by the Olympics joining seven other singer/songwriters selected from across Canada.
Meaghan has spent time in Nashville showcasing, co-writing and making friends. She plans to return to Nashville soon for more showcasing and co-writing opportunities. Touring and performing live as much as possible is also on the agenda for 2012.
